Testosterone Weekend

This morning, Michelle left for a 3 day weekend, where she will go cavorting around Bend with Jen, Geoff, and Sierra. What does that mean? Yep, it’s a bachelor weekend for the Etter boys! Look out, Mountain View!

We started our long weekend this morning by having a healthy breakfast. For those of you that read Michelle’s post about life when she was sick with strep and Dad was in charge and were “horrified” by the dinner I served the boys, you’ll be happy to know that they had a very healthy start of yogurt, oatmeal, and scrambled eggs this morning. Evidence below.

Then we headed off to music class with Teacher Juliet. Andrew has been going to music class for a couple years now, but this was actually the first time I’d taken him. I think the idea of Testosterone Weekend really kicked in quickly for him, because he immediately turned into Andrew “Casanova” Etter. There was a baby girl – probably just under a year old – named Aubrey in class today. Apparently she was new. One look and Andrew was smitten – or should I say enraptured. He spent probably half the class (a good 20 minutes) either hugging, kissing, or trying to french the poor girl! She was unbelievably polite but eventually decided she couldn’t stand his affections any longer.  That didn’t deter Andrew, though, so her mother and I had to literally pry him off of her. When he gets older I’m going to have to teach Andrew about the 5 finger rule…  on the drive home I had him repeating “no means no!”

Tomorrow is a day full of fun – mowing the lawn (the boys’ favorite activity) and going to the Mountain View Family Parade which is downtown at lunchtime. I see hotdogs and lemonade in our future! Sunday is Farmer’s Market day (the most exciting element of the market is that two trains go by when we’re there…), and then we’re off to Oakland to geek it up at the Chabot Space & Science Center – they have a program for kids under 5 in the Planetarium called “Sunshine!” We’ll see how it is…

In any case, I’m looking forward to the weekend and I hope Michelle enjoys her reprieve! I’ll hopefully have time to post some updates during the weekend…
