Fun with selective focus (Lensbaby)

Last month for my birthday, my in-laws got me a gift that has been on my registry for a while – a new Lensbaby lens! Lensbaby makes selective-focus lenses; specialty devices that really create distinctive shots. Definitely not something you’d shoot with every day, but pretty fun for some neat effects!

The Lensbaby lens (I have the 2.0 version) is actually a bendable lens – you use your fingers to push or pull the lens in & out to achieve focus, then bend the lens to direct where you want the sharp focus point to be. I brought it with me on this trip and experimented with it for the first time today – here are some of the results! (More impressive full-size, if you go to my Smugmug gallery…)
